Azimuth is a leading provider of music data, offering a wide range of services to help artists, labels, and brands make informed decisions.

Challenges

Massive volumes of streaming music data, with no way to see the patterns

Azimuth collects music data at scale across the US, tracking trends by geography, demographics, and time. But the data was arriving faster than it could be understood. There was no system to visualize what was happening across states in real time, and the raw data alone could not tell the story that artists, labels, and brands needed to make decisions. The core problem was both technical and experiential. The visualization had to handle continuous, high-volume data streams without performance degradation, while presenting the results in a way that was immediately legible and interactive. Static dashboards and spreadsheets could not keep up with the volume or the pace, and off-the-shelf mapping tools lacked the depth Azimuth needed to differentiate their product.

Solutions

A full-stack geographic visualization platform built for real-time music data

Neural Lab built a full-stack application from the ground up, centered around an interactive map interface that renders real-time music trends across US states. The front end combines Mapbox for geographic rendering with Three.js for layered visual depth, giving users an experience that is both data-rich and intuitive to navigate. On the backend, Supabase handles real-time data management, ensuring continuous data streams are ingested, stored, and served without latency. The application was built with Next.js for performance and SEO visibility, with Redux managing application state to keep interactions fluid as users explore data across regions, time periods, and demographics.

We needed a solution that could keep up with real-time data and still look amazing. Neural Lab delivered beyond our expectations.
Results

A platform that turns streaming music data into something you can see and act on

Azimuth now has a purpose-built platform that transforms continuous streams of music data into clear, geographic visualizations in real time. Industry stakeholders, from artists and labels to brands, can explore trends by state, track demographic shifts, and identify opportunities that would be invisible in raw data or static reports. The platform became a core part of Azimuth's product offering, strengthening their position as a go-to source for real-time music analytics in the US. User engagement and retention improved as the visualization layer made the data accessible and actionable for a broader audience.
